Most people *say* they care about the future, but for many I think that's more something they say to fit in socially. If everyone really did care, we wouldn't be in this pickle.

What doesn't get mentioned enough about electric cars is that owners NEVER have to deal with stinky and awful oil and gas, which is especially appealing to women, AND EVs accelerate quickly which is good for safety AND -- especially in regenerative braking mode -- electric cars are really FUN to drive. Emphasizing all that might motivate more "car people" to buy electric vehicles.
